Ink and pen of surface tension

General

Surface tension is the elastic tendency of a fluid surface to acquire the smallest possible surface area.
Surface tension, usually represented by the symbol Ƴ, is measured in force per unit length. Its SI unit is the newton per meter but the unit cgs of dyne per centimeter is also used.
Ƴ= 1mN / m = 1 dyn / cm = 0.001J / m².

Test ink

Test inks are liquids with a precisely defined surface tension. According to DIN ISO 8296: 2008-03, these inks have a highly toxic composition of formamide and ethylene glycol.

We offer the same range of parameters in a non-toxic composition.

Measuring technology

The surface tension measurement value of our inks and test pens was determined using the Noüy ring method (DIN EN 14210/14370, ASTMD 971), as the calibration substance was diethylene glycol. The measured surface tension deviates by a maximum of +/- 0.4 mN/m from the printed nominal value.

Fields of application

  • Plastics industry
  • Medical
  • Cosmetics
  • Marking
  • Pad printing

Our surface tension test inks and pens allow you to test the surface tension of your ink :

  • An optimisation of surface tension measurement controls
  • A check of the degree of degreasing of metal surfaces
  • Our products are available in ink and pencil by the unit or in a set
  • They are also available in standard sets
  • Quick and easy surface search on all materials (except wood)
  • Control of surface treatments on all materials (except wood)
  • Checking the degree of degreasing of metal surfaces
  • Production in pens or bottles
  • 10 ml bottle with brush integrated in the lid
  • Pen with anti-drying valve. Available in 5, 8, 15, 20 and 60 mm widths
  • Free declaration (REACH, GHS)
  • Available from 16 to 105 mN/m
  • No medical risk for the user
  • Highly ecological product
  • Patented product
  • They are also available in standard sets

 Influence by measurement

  • Surface roughness (an increase in roughness leads to a larger surface and spreading of the test liquid. Therefore, the indication on a rough surface will be higher than on a smooth surface. The difference depends on the degree of roughness)
  • Temperature (the surface tension of the test inks decreases with increasing temperature (rule of thumb: 1-2 mN / m per 10 ° C). At higher substrate temperatures, the surface indication energy is lower than the ambient temperature)
  • Contamination
  • Static load

Preparation temperature

From 18°C to 23°C. Surface tension inks have a boiling point > 100° C, allowing you to take measurements at temperatures of 50 °C and above. At lower temperatures the tension values.

The indicated surface areas are lower than the measurements taken at room temperature, while at higher temperatures they are higher than these measurements.

As an approximate indication the variations are estimated at a value between 1 and 2 mN/m per 10°C.

Storage

Our pens and surface tension ink can be stored in a dark place at a temperature between 16°C and 25°C for at least 6 months from the date of opening and at least 12 months from the date of filling.

Transport

To transport our products, the minimum temperature must be at least 15°C, inks and pens must be well packed.

Reception leaves our products at room temperature for one day without touching them.
